Well hey there, thanks for swinging by. I'll make the tea, you bring the scones.

My name is Jane Hollier Brown and I am a freelance writer. On whatjanedid you'll find a selection of my favourite published pieces, and a hearty serving of self-aggrandization.

After having a coughing fit during a live radio news bulletin I decided broadcast journalism was not for me and sought out the solace of the written word.

In my time as a writer I have been published in several best-selling magazines, including CosmopolitanGirlfriend and Total Girl

I have also had my work featured in and on the front page of one of the world's largest viral content producing websites,

Additionally, I have edited and produced content for Westfield Kotara, Newcastle-based PR firm, House of Airlie, and Australian teen website, Bella Magazine.

Some of the topics I have covered in my freelancing include body image, mental health, feminism, fashion, food, travel, beauty, love and friendship. Not to mention, hard-hitting issues such as 61 thoughts you have when your phone falls on your face. And they say journalism is dead!

While freelancing I completed a Bachelor of Communications (majoring in journalism) at Charles Sturt University. I also undertook a one year internship at Cosmopolitan magazine, where thanks to the guidance of a team of incredible women I was able to hone in my writing skills, build self-confidence and have my very first article published.

Despite these things, my greatest achievement is saving the universe at the Doctor Who Interactive Experience in Wales. You’re welcome, Earth.
